Character Design

To capture that specific flat 2D "Jazz" aesthetic, we move toward the Mid-Century Modern (MCM) illustration style. This look is defined by geometric shapes, minimal shading, and a rhythmic, almost musical flow to the lines. Key influences for this "chic illustration" style include: UPA Animation (United Productions of America): Think of the stylized, flat backgrounds and sharp character designs of the 50s and 60s. Mads Berg: A contemporary illustrator who masters this vintage-meets-modern jazz aesthetic with elegant silhouettes and flat color blocks. Saul Bass: Known for his iconic movie posters, his use of jagged, asymmetrical shapes and high-contrast palettes perfectly complements a jazz-inspired visual.
